Senior Producer, The Johns Hopkins University - Est. Salary: $61K - $106K

Location: Baltimore, MD

The Berman Institute of Bioethics is seeking a Sr Producer of the Dracopoulos-Bloomberg iDeas Lab, who will work collaboratively with the iDeas Lab Director. The Senior Producer will assist in designing, and developing the newly created creative group within the Berman Institute with the goal of enhancing the Bermans Institutes work, reach, and impact with the latest digital media, multimedia, and design for the dissemination of bioethics research and analysis. This role will directly report to the Director of the iDeas Lab.

The Sr Producer will help the iDeas lab realize its goal of increasing public reach and dissemination of the Institutes work on issues of ethics in medicine, biomedical research, emerging science, and public health. We expect the iDeas Lab to become the recognized source for timely, high-quality bioethics content and analysis while offering accessible, informative, and useful resources to a wide range of public-facing stakeholders.

Applicants must have outstanding organizational skills, be able to manage complex projects with diverse stakeholders, be able to work independently as well as communicate and collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creative strategic direction of the Ideas Lab, in partnership with the iDeas Lab Director and the Berman Institutes Director.

  • Collaborate with the Berman Institutes digital team and organizations website and social media.

  • Produce and oversee Content for the iDeas Lab.

  • Plan production budgets.

  • Edit scripts for projects.

  • Communicate regularly with key stakeholders on project activities and deadlines.

  • Assist with formal and informal grant reporting by coordinating, drafting, and facilitating the review of reports.

  • Participate in conference calls with grantees, team members, and partners.

  • Attend all regular team meetings and provide updates on projects as requested.

  • Maintain all project-related files in a database and assure files are organized and current.

  • Develop and share quarterly reports of project statuses to leadership.

  • Manage Freelancers.


Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Outlook, Google.

  • Proficiency with Editing Software.

  • Ability to quickly learn various computer-based applications and data analysis tools.

  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and oral skills and the ability to communicate effectively are essential.

  • Strong organizational, administrative, project management, and problem-solving skills required.

  • Able to exercise independent judgment to resolve minor problems arising while conducting research.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to stand, walk or sit for an extended period of time.

  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.

  • Communication skills using the spoken word.

  • Ability to see within normal parameters.



Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree.

  • Five years of related experience required, creating audio, podcast & video content in a television news, corporate, non-profit, or similar fast-paced environment.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Eight to Ten years related production experience, including overseeing freelancers and managing productions from development to dissemination.

  • Experience interviewing people from a range of backgrounds and life experiences.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
