The Technical Design Intern will assist the Technical Designer in maintaining and executing design
aesthetics through consistent fit and construction. The Intern will be a strong collaborator with the
team to translate design concepts into specifications for first prototypes through the fit process
to production-ready fit approval. The Technical Design Intern needs strong communication and
organizational skills- as well as a heightened attention to detail.

This role is based in our downtown Savannah Design Studio and reports to the Technical
Designer.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Assist Technical Designer in measuring all incoming protos, SMS, and TOP samples to
    ensure they meet the desired specifications.

  • Observe & facilitate in the creation of a development tech pack: adding spec pages,
    construction pages and sample request pages into Centric (PLM) after handoff from
    Design.

  • Create & update technical illustrations & specifications using Adobe Creative Suite

  • Assist in managing the flow of information during the product cycle from sketch through
    pre-production samples and final bulk garments.

  • Attend all fit sessions, photograph garments, and help set up fit comments that will be
    entered into Centric (PLM) and released to corresponding vendor to meet T&A timeline.

  • Monitor all styles to ensure they are constructed to meet LAKE standards through the
    approval of fits for women's, men's, and kid's products.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator (Flat Sketching) & Microsoft Excel required.

  • Understanding of basic specs & grading, construction & basic fit issues, and flat
    sketching/technical drawing skills.

  • Working patternmaking knowledge is a plus.

  • Comprehensive understanding of fabric & manufacturing process as it applies to knits
    and wovens.

  • Ability to analyze quality and maintain standards set by Technical Designer.

  • Strong organizational skills, good verbal and written communication skills, attention to
    detail & ability to proactively problem solve required.

EDUCATION:

  • Degree or Certification in Apparel Manufacturing and/or Design. Equivalent apparel
    work experience preferred or Someone working towards a degree in Fashion Design/Textile/Apparel Management, Product Development or a related field
