Job Description Summary

This design role is focused on creating a compelling user experience that ensures our subscribers obtain the maximum value from what The Caltimes (The Los Angeles Times and San Diego Union-Tribune) has to offer them. You understand that a user experience needs to be considered from the user’s perspective in order to be engaging, compelling, and consistent. By creating an integrated Web and Mobile user experience, you will help to drive feature adoption, subscription growth, and improve customer retention. The core measures for success for our Product Innovation team are subscriber growth and engagement, and you'll be a part of the user Engagement team, including both Web and Mobile experiences. This team is a cross-functional squad composed of expert product managers, UX researchers, and UX designers, who work closely with product engineers and data scientists. The work of our teams is central to our mission to deliver the best subscriber experience possible. More user engagement will lead to subscribers spending more time reading the paper, and incline new folks to start a subscription. You will use your expertise to ensure that the user experience (Web and Mobile) provides users with the most value and the least friction. To deliver a best-in-class engagement experience, you will contribute your design efforts to creating a holistic user experience that has subscribers coming back more frequently, and new users becoming subscribers. You will build products our users love based on insights, data, user testing, and design insights. The experiences you produce will provide vital support to The Caltimes’ business as the company continues to grow.
